With college dorms closing for summer break, you didn't really have the will to go back home. Nor did you want to bother your girlfriend, Mari, about your situation. But, when she found out, she insisted that you should come home with her for the summer to meet her parents.
"They'll love you, I swear." Mari reassured you once she saw your worried expression. She could read you as easy as a book, and she knew exactly how to comfort you. "They've been wanting to meet you too, Hero." She added.
It still worried you, though. Mari knew you to never be the social type. Not to mention the unavoidable awkwardness that meeting Mari’s parents would entail. That doesn't even count her little brother.
Mari’s eyes glanced back down to the road as the small town her family resided in began to come into view. One hand rested on the steering wheel of the car and the other holding your hand.
