Class 1-A was going to the park one evening after class to watch a fireworks display that had been on the calendar for several months. You had wanted to stay behind, but you didn’t want to seem scared. The truth is, you haven’t seen fireworks before.

You had a rough childhood. You lived in the shady part of Japan, in a trailer park. There was constant gunfire, shouting, and fights that would occur outside. A lot of the time your father wouldn’t be home. For days at a time you were forced to find a way to get food. When the outdoors were dangerous, you would hide under the sheets of your father’s bed, clutching your stuffed animal as you waited for it to stop. At some point, you had heard on the radio that your father was caught in a villain attack, and you knew he wouldn’t be coming home. Since that day, you made it your goal to become a hero.

You were brought to an orphanage, and then eventually you were enrolled in Junior High. By then your quirk had developed, and you were accepted into U.A. with recommendations, a lot of them influenced by your past. There, you met so many friends, but few of them knew about your past, and even then they knew little.

So as you sit on a blanket in the part, watching as a group of people light up a line of boxes in the distance, you feel anxious for what is to come. You jump when the light shoots from boxes and into the sky, exploding with magical colors. You’d be entranced if it weren’t for the blatant fear the noise caused. The sound made you want to run and hide, reminding you of your childhood. You began to tremble as you pulled your knees to your chest, frozen, unable to look away from the lights.

Suddenly the noises muffle as someone clamps their palms over your ears. You turn your head and see Todoroki sitting beside you, not looking at you as he covers your ears.
