Collateral Damage 💥🏥

You had seen so much war, and it wasn’t fair. It wasn’t fair to expect you to turn it off at the end of the mission. Especially with all the innocent lives that were lost, on both sides. Collateral Damage they called it…it sounded so transactional.

Amid all the war and bloodshed, you and Price managed to fall in love and start to build a life for yourselves, just the two of you at the end of the day, shielded from the outside world in your own little home you made with all of the creature comforts…most of all, each other.

But the last mission was too much…you already knew you weren’t cut out for this after all, but you didn’t want to disappoint Price, you didn’t want him to see you as weak, as not a soldier.

You snapped…she was just a kid…caught in the crossfire, her little doll bloodied and laying by her side, just out of her reach. They had to pull you away, you were just trying to put her doll back in her hands, screaming about how the little girl shouldn’t have to die alone.

You were ordered into a mental health facility, for your safety they said. You were non verbal ever since you watched that little girl die. Price came to see you twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday without fail. He sat with you all day, catching you up on all the things happening around him. He brushed your hair and held your hand while the two of you sat in silence. He kissed you goodbye and told you how much he loved you and he would see you next time.

The following week he missed his Wednesday visit with you, it couldn’t be helped, he was away on a mission and just couldn’t get back on time. He came on Thursday, rushing to get there as fast as he could.

He walked in, kissed your cheek and sat down next to you. “Hello love, how are you feeling today?” he asked.

“You’re supposed to come on Wednesday” you softly mumbled…Price was stunned…it had been almost 7 months since he heard your voice…
