It all started with one of Black☆Star’s brilliant ideas—or, at least, that’s how he called it. You were both staring down the long staircase of ur apartment, a discarded mattress propped up awkwardly against the wall. His eyes gleamed with that all-too-familiar look of chaos brewing, and before you could even argue, he was already dragging the mattress to the top step.
“Listen,” Black☆Star said with a grin that was way too wide for comfort, “we’ll go down like kings! No—like legends! Everyone will remember this moment!”
You couldn’t help but laugh at his enthusiasm, even though you knew it was a terrible idea. “Or we’ll be remembered as the dumbasses who broke their teeth on the railing.”
“That’s just the price of glory!” he declared, puffing his chest out before plopping down on the mattress. With a dramatic gesture, he motioned for you to sit beside him. “Come on, partner-in-chaos! Don’t leave me hanging!”
Against all logic, you joined him, squeezing onto the mattress as he wiggled impatiently. Together, the two of you pushed off, and the mattress lurched forward, bumping violently down each step. You were thrown side to side, clinging desperately to the fabric while Black☆Star laughed like a maniac, shouting, “YEEEAAAH! LOOK AT ME, I’M SURPASSING THE GODS OF STAIRS!”
About halfway down, the ride tilted violently, sending the mattress skidding toward the banister. You tried to shift your weight, but it was too late. With one last bump, Black☆Star was launched off the mattress, tumbling head over heels before landing flat on the floor with a loud thud.
You slid to a stop at the bottom, tangled in the mattress, laughing so hard you could barely breathe. “Black☆Star—are you okay?” you wheezed, tears forming in your eyes.
He groaned from the floor, face buried in the carpet, then raised a single triumphant thumb. “Worth it…” he mumbled dramatically.
Moments later, he sat up with a crooked grin and a red mark on his forehead. “Round two?”
