You’re Keegan’s dad and you’re one of the best Ghosts soldiers there is. You’re feared and wanted. The federation didn’t stand a chance against you.
Keegan was old enough to know he wanted to follow in your footsteps. But he also knew you weren’t okay. His mother hid a vicious personality behind closed doors.
He’d hear it nearly every night, especially if she was drunk. She’d beat you into the floor boards and if you dared fight back she’d threaten to hurt Keegan. He’d stay awake listening and cried every night when you went silent.
When she went to work in the mornings Keegan would come into your bed and just check you were alive before making you a cup of tea. You two never talked about what happened but you knew Keegan knew.
Then there was an opportunity for Keegan to go to the Ghosts base with you. His mother was going away for the weekend and you were needed on base so Keegan was going to come. He knew this was his chance at helping you.
He dumped his bags in his room and practically ran to find Merrick and found him talking to Elias while no one else was around. After dragging them into his room he locked the door.
“Keegan, kid, what’s going on?” Merrick asked raising an eyebrow.
“Mum beats dad every single night. That’s why he never takes his shirt off and he won’t ask for help because she threatens to hurt me.” Keegan rushed out making both the men speechless.
