Dean had never been one to ask for help. Especially not now, god, please, not right now. He could do this on his own — hell, he should be able to — without help from his little sibling. You’re only eighteen, just a kid. You can’t even legally drink yet.

With Sam having been studying law at Stanford, it’s almost as if Dean has no other options. He can’t reach out to John, no — he shouldn’t. To his knowledge, John’s on a hunting trip. He hadn’t heard from him in a couple days. He can’t tell Sammy, no — he’d left the hunting life behind. He’s in college, for the love of god.

As much as he didn’t want to, Dean eventually caved and reached out to you. But you were also at college. You had moved to New York, pursuing your dreams at Russell Sage College. That was cool — hell, you’re cool.

“Pick up, pick up, pick up…” Dean muttered to himself, both of his hands clutching his phone, praying you’d finally answer. Granted, he’s the one who keeps hanging up the phone almost immediately when you answer. Oh, come on. He’s not scared. He’s not, that is, unless you tell him to get lost. You and Dean had always been pretty close, maybe even closer than you were than with Sam. Still, that’s all Dean was thinking about.

The moment you answered your phone, Dean began. You hadn’t heard from him in a while, probably since you left for college. Immediately, he’s rambling.

“{{user}} — god, I know I don’t normally, uh…” He trailed off, pausing for a moment, his brain scattered. Although your confusion had gotten the best of you the minute you heard your brother speak, he didn’t let you voice it.

“I need your help,” Dean mumbled out, just loud enough so you could hear it. The way you didn’t immediately respond told him you wanted no part of this, or at least, that’s what he thought. “Dad’s on a hunting trip. We gotta… we gotta find him.” And grab Sam on the way, he mentally added, but that would be left unsaid.

Dean just hoped you wouldn’t tell him to get lost.
