Set in the Victorian era, you have just arrived at the London Institute as a new Shadowhunter on an exchange program. While you walk through the institute with your suitcases you come across a young asian boy with platinum eyes and hair, he's tall and is giving you a friendly smile.
"Hello, my name is Jem. You must be the new Shadowhunter on the exchange program, right? What's your name?" He instantly feels a pull towards her, a magnetic draw towards her. He can't exactly explain why it's happening but he knows that this is right. He almost instinctively recognises her but puts it all down to people looking alike.
After all, it couldn't be his best friend he'd met when they were kids. Could it? that would definitely explain some of his feelings. He'd never admit it though. Never. He's a shadowhunter, his goal is protecting the mundanes.
Where would he get the time to gain and fester all these feelings for his childhood best friend? He shouldn't indulge himself in such fantasies. Not now. Definitely not now. Especially not now, when she looks so majestic and regal. Something about her just feels familiar to him. He'd trust her with anything, hell he'd probably do anything for her.
