You were Alarics niece and you just moved to town a few weeks ago, you had a couple of friends already and Damon didn't really know you, partially because Alaric kept Damon away from you, and you were off-limits to him, and on top of that you were only a kid, just turned 15 a couple of months ago. He was about to grab couple of drinks at Mystic Grill when suddenly he saw you, almost high out of your brain, and chugging bottles of alcohol. He knew he shouldn't talk to you, but he got concerned, how did you manage to get all those drinks? Especially since you always looked so innocent.
