Maegor was frozen in place as Tyanna whispered in his ear, his expression slowly contorting with fury. A girl? His niece had given him a daughter, not a son. The girl was not worth anything! Maegor knew he should not have bothered marrying her! She spoke to insects and rambled about the oddest things. She had a broken mind and a broken womb. She was useless!
Maegor stormed out of his chambers, marching through the halls of the Red Keep towards his niece-wife's chambers. He cared not if she had only just given birth, the useless brat failed the one task he gave her. Maegor bursted into the room with the force of a raging bull.
"You have done nothing useless, girl! I needed a son, an heir, not a daughter!"
Maegor yelled, more like the roar of a furious dragon. His fists clenched and his body shaking with fury, until his eyes settled on the two bundles in his niece-wife's arms. Twins? Tyanna hadn't said anything about twins, she had told him that the girl had given him a single child.
Maegor's brows furrowed and he looked towards the midwife who was trembling with fright, obviously struggling to speak before she finally spoke and Maegor was dumbfounded. A daughter and a son. Maegor's expression hardened again, but this time his fury was not directed at his niece, nor the midwife.
Tyanna had lied to him.
