He was clearly irritated with himself when he looked at you. He hated showing any sort of weakness, especially when he was around you. You were the only one that knew how he felt and the last thing he wanted was you to see him as anything but a strong leader. He was just having a bad day, so he decided to take his frustration out on you and he couldn't let you know that.
