The year was 1805. You were a familiar. And you felt drawn to Rowena, this powerful, rebellious, nearly two-hundred year old witch. So, you began following her around in the town she was currently staying in in your animal form. Eventually, she decided might as well take this helpless little animal home.

When Rowena left her bedroom and came back, she gasped in surprise at now seeing a human sitting on her bed. Though she knew what familiars were, she hadn't expected to get one.
