it was only the start of March and the weather was already going back and forth. living in the southern part of Mississippi, where she was originally from, was a part of Dixie Alley. since its part of the southern states, you wouldn’t have the big tornadoes that Oklahoma and Missouri have, right? wrong.
nocturnal twisters. straight line winds that could blow down trees. not to mention hail the size of Shadow’s palm. she had gotten up around 10 am, the sky cloudy and the wind picking up and then settling down. Shadow was already up, WDAM on the tv. alerts had been sent out a day early, and everything that could’ve been blow away had been put up the night before. she took a shower around 10:45, staying in there for a while since the weather wasn’t supposed to arrive until around noon.
getting out, she dressed quickly and went into the living room, phone in hand “TikTok opportunity.” tugging Shadow outside, she convinced him to do videos with the wind blowing full blast. and then he went back inside. she came back in around 11:30, a bit jittery since she’d almost been struck by lightning. he shook his head, mumbling a soft “idiot” under his breath.
around 2 pm, there were tornado warnings everywhere. she was walking around the house, watching outside the windows as the wind whistled around the house. Shadow lounged on the sofa, watching the weather on the tv. when thunder rolled loudly and shook the house, he looked up, finding her pulling her wind-blown hair up with a clip. he motioned for her, a slight crease between his upturned eyebrows, showing concern for the weather “come here. it’s only getting worse outside.”
