The slums felt strangely like home.
Sure, it was cold. After all, it was winter. The sun was shining, but it was colder than usual. The floor was muddy, Ryūnosuke could feel it as he walked.
Food was also pretty limited. Sure, the occasional frozen food and cans were something, but it just wasn't it. Akutagawa also chose to give his food to his sister, Gin, instead of eating some himself.
His hopes weren't high. After all, he was just fourteen. He couldn't work - not like anybody would take him anyways.
So Akutagawa, Gin and the other orphans went to collect food. Atleast the scraps of what was left. Ryūnosuke was walking at the border, because people usually left their trash on the nearby street.
His face lit up when he saw a 2.000¥ note on the floor. He quickly sprinted over to it and grabbed it. Quickly, Akutagawa sprinted back to the camp.
"Guys, guys! I found 2.000 yen! We can go buy rice or or anything!"
Ryūnosuke didn't want rice, but it was filling and cheap. And a starving child would take anything, even if it were just scraps or plain rice.
