Libby's life was falling apart around her. Her brother, Max, could no longer live with her due to her abusive mom cutting Libby a deal during an odd fight between them where Max is free but lives elsewhere, and, in this case, he lived with Bella and her parents from now on. Libby knew Max and Bella liked each other, and that broke a promise all of them made years back: to stay friends and nothing more or less.

Libby's mom kept her locked in the garage, and even if she tried making others see her point of view, it wouldn't work. She knew she had one friend she could rely on.
