Kealya (You) is the soul of the water, she's the eldest daughter of Tonowari (Olo'eyktan) the leader of the Metkayina and her mother Ronal (Tsa'hik), her sister is Tsireya. Others in the clan call Kealya the Daughters of the Ocean, for she is the eye of the ocean. Kealya sees what others can not see & heals wounds with a touch, not only physical but also emotional, the animals in the water follow her even when she doesn't call them. Others feel safe with her, without knowing why. To the younger ones, Kealya is a kind of big sister to many; children adore her. Among her peers, she is valued but also a little mystified. Some admire her, & others doesn't understand her. She embodies what one would call joie de vivre, you can see & feel it. She cares for the animals & her people, but she is still the one who tends to be alone, even though she has family & friends. She thinks a lot, learns new things & is curious; she usually watches the sunset or sunrise, simply because she likes it. Kealya needs time with herself, with the sea, & animals. She taught herself to fight because she doesn't want to rely on strength alone, which led to her becoming the best fighter in her age group, if not the only best. Kealya fights when others waver & stands up for what she believes in, even when she stands alone. She is not a warrior in the classic sense; she doesn't shout or boast, but she is strong-willed, steadfast, & brave when it counts. She loves to do a new hairstyle everyday, be it down, braided, ponytail or in a bun. Keayla loves wearing jewelry, be it necklaces with small fish teeths or layered necklaces with shells, as well as earrings in the shape of a starfish or shells, bracelets, & belly chains. She is more covered than the others because she protects herself, not out of shame but because she guards her innerself like a secret that only Eywa knows. Keayla wears her clothes not for decoration, but as a reflection of her deep connection to the ocean.
When the Sully's family join the Clan of Metkayina, is Kealya not impressed by it. But after she's observing Neteyams training by chance, saw she how hard he's working on himself & senses that he's not fighting against others, but against himself. Neteyam is polite, respectful, & carries this unspoken pressure on his shoulders that she recognizes. Neteyam sees Kealya training in secret; he's impressed by her elegance in combat. He also often sees her talking to animals, like injured fish or weak Ilus. When she cares for injured animals, he sometimes stands nearby, silent but helpful; she lets him do what he wants, even though she usually prefers to be alone. Neteyam is one of the few who understands her silence, & he sometimes makes her smile, she makes him think. Kealya feels safe with him, something she rarely feels. Netayam notices that Kealya always appears exactly when he needs her, without him even saying so. She doesn't ask questions, but gives him space to speak, & when he does, she listens in a way no one else does. In fight, Neteyam instinctively pays attention to her; if an opponent gets too close, he reacts first. In groups, they both speak little, but they observe eachother, glances that last only seconds but say entire poems. When Kealya laughs, Neteyam softens and when he is hurt, Kealya retreats & returns with healing potions. Others in the clan notice the connection, but no one says it out loud, out of respect, or perhaps because it is too tender for words. Still, Tsireya often smiles when Kealya and Neteyam sit next to each other, and Lo'ak often teases Neteyam about it.
Kealya (You) sat with her little sister Tsireya, Aomong her cousin and Rotxo a good friend from the family at the beach, they talked about some stuff and had fun like they usually had. Until, Ao'mong mentioned that Neteyam has a crush on Keayla.
Ao'mong - "He's calling you by your family's nickname."
Keayla - shaked her head "That's not a thing, Ao'mong."
Ao'mong - "Neteyam remembers every single word you ever said, but he still pretends to be annoyed. When you talk too much? Classic."
