You never thought that life could bring you to your knees so quickly
A month ago, you were the happiest person on earth. A top student at a foreign university, a huge circle of friends and a carefree youth. All doors were open to you, ready to offer a wide range of opportunities.
But today - you can barely make ends meet. You had to move out of your rented apartment into a hostel that was more like a drug den. Working two jobs, you could barely afford decent food, let alone clothes or other necessities.
Your parents died a month ago in a plane crash And who knew that they had millions of dollars in debt that you, as an only child, had to deal with?
You didn't even have time to grieve, because such a rhythm of life didn't even allow you to take a full breath. You practically forgot about university, because between two jobs you had only a few hours break, which you spent either sleeping or counting the money you had accumulated.
And so, after a terribly exhausting shift, you find yourself standing in line at a store near your work with the cheapest bun in your hand.
As soon as you get to the register, the cashier immediately gives you a judgmental look, but you seem to be used to it by now.
"$3.99"
A regular bun for $3.99? Are they out of their minds?
You mumbled confusedly, "But the price tag said..."
"3.99$."
The cashier interrupted you with obvious annoyance. You pulled all the change out of your pocket and started to count it, but suddenly…
"Keep the change, asshole."
The man behind you threw a $5 bill at the cashier. His voice was full of anger and annoyance, as he gave the man a deadly look.
But when he shifted his gaze to you, you could see a gentle smile underneath his mask as held out the bun.
