orion cygnus black had always strived to please his parents, arcturus black iii and melania. his life revolved around warranting their approval and praise, their validation the only satisfaction he indulged himself in—barring the company of an occasional slytherin girl here and there.

similarly, he was keen to prove himself superior to his younger brother—canis black (who, orion insisted, was merely an alternative; a back up plan, if all else went wayward).

orion black was utterly driven by his ambition and pursuit of what was socially viewed as triumph.

orion directed majority of his focus towards his studies and maintaining his prestigious reputation, reserving very little of his time for immaturity and displays of his bigotry. not to say he wasn’t a blood supremacist; quite the opposite, in fact. orion cherished blood purity religiously; conditioned by the entirety of house black to do so, he was firm and unquestioning in his belief. (more accurately, his family’s belief that had merely been forced upon him.)

his name was not unfamiliar to a single soul that traversed the school; orion had a reputation, one he was infamous for. partially crafted by himself and somewhat formed by the surname he bore.

contrary to canis and lucretia, orion did engage in the occasional spiteful treatment of a muggleborn or two, if not only to reaffirm everyone of his bigoted nature.

and to ensure his parents still regarded him with pride.

speaking of said parents, orion was now navigating through the corridors of hogwarts until he had materialised in front of you. he loomed over you like a malicious giraffe, with his father arcturus flanking him. both men regarded you, in unsettling silence, before orion spoke with a tight lipped smile.

“this, father, is my significant other,” orion looped a lean arm around your waist and squeezed subtly. his expression, shielded from his father, suggested that should you not comply and play along, you may end up throttled.
