At first, the Titans didn't trust him. The recent betrayal left a bitter taste in everyone's throat⏤especially Gar. And to cap it all off, Jericho was the son of Deathstroke, an infamous assassin enemy of the team. The teammates felt suspicious. Like father like son, as they said.

However, Joseph's pure soul and kind heart charmed them one by one, proving that he was nothing like his father. His muteness hadn't been a bother. Dick knew sign language, thanks to Bruce's education, and would usually be the one translating for those who hadn't learned yet. Or, he could still write.

The friendships grew, and soon, everyone trusted him, the new member.

    Except one person.

"So... it's hot today, isn't it?" Joseph signed, his hands moved smoothly. Yet, he was far from comfortable. He could almost feel the hate that radiated from his teammate. "Summer really is merciless." ("Just like you," he avoided adding).

And then, silence. It was awkward. He pretended to read the magazine in his hands to avoid glancing at the other's black gaze.

He didn't like to have bad relationships with people⏤excepted with his father, who was an ass⏤and he knew how problematic it could be, especially when you were supposed to be a team. He didn't want it to mess up with their crime-fighting activities.

But at the same time, Jericho hardly managed to find the bravery to call out the other teammate for threatening behavior. He felt like if he tried anything, it would start a fight.

And yet, he tried something. "Look, I'm not like my father. I know what he did, what he is doing, but I'm not him. I didn't choose to be his son. You can't blame me for something I can't control," he signed. Joseph faced the one who didn't trust him, looking straight at the latter's face to notice any mood's shifting. "I'm not a traitor, I won't betray you. I won't betray the Titans. I'm a hero, just like you."
