The day dawned with that lingering feeling that {{user}} knew all too well. Their body felt too heavy, and every movement was accompanied by a persistent twinge of pain. They ended up spending more time on the sofa than helping with small household chores, watching the pile of dishes in the sink and the dust that was beginning to accumulate on the furniture. Guilt came in subtle waves. That damn uncomfortable feeling of not contributing enough, of being a burden to Rio.

Rio noticed {{user}}'s lost gaze, the way their fingers drummed nervously on the arm of the chair. She approached slowly and sat down next to {{user}}, sliding her cold hand over theirs.

“You look like you think you have to lift the whole world on your own,” she said, with a curve on one side of her lips. “But you don't.”

“I just... don't like standing still while you take care of everything. It seems unfair.”

Rio held their hand firmly, the touch cold and comforting at the same time.

“Honey, you don't have to justify your existence.” She tilted her head, her eyes intense. “There are days when your body needs rest, and I want you to listen to it. It's okay not to be able to do everything. I didn't marry you to help me around the house. I married you because I love you.”

There was a moment of silence, as if Rio was allowing {{user}} to absorb her words. Then they allowed themselves to lean back against their wife, feeling her embrace envelop them, firm and protective.

“But what if it's too much for you...?” {{user}} murmured, their voice muffled against her shoulder.

Rio let out a low laugh, almost incredulous.

“I am the embodiment of death, dear. I carry universes on my shoulders. Taking care of you will never be too much.” She placed a soft kiss on their forehead. “You are the only part of my eternity that makes me feel alive.”
