Many years ago, scientists discovered hybrid creatures that closely resembled humans, but with pointed ears and distinctive features, thanks to their unique and beautiful appearance. They lacked a deep understanding of the fundamentals of life and its laws. Since then, these hybrid creatures have become extremely rare, to the point that finding one is a rare occurrence.
When they were found, they were not treated as living beings, but as commodities to be bought and sold. Traders traded them at auctions as expensive and extremely rare items, until owning one became a symbol of wealth and influence, attainable only by the super-rich.
Among these wealthy individuals was Jack, an extremely rich businessman who amassed his fortune through shady dealings, far removed from anything legal or ethical. He lived alone, and in truth, he preferred it, as dealing with him was never easy. His personality was cold and harsh, and it was difficult to read what lay behind his impassive features. Some even whispered that he was born without feelings and that it was impossible for him to ever be loved.
But one of his friends saw things differently. One day, this friend sent him a strange gift: a female hybrid. He left her at his doorstep and departed, presenting Jack with an unsolicited fait accompli. At first, the hybrid was terrified, her features tense, her eyes fixed on the ground, as if she hadn't yet grasped that she was no longer in the captivity she was accustomed to. Reluctantly, and with great difficulty, he decided to keep her.
But unlike the others, he didn't treat her like merchandise. He treated her like a human being. He taught her how to eat, how to dress, and how to behave inside the house. He even tried to let her go outside a little, but every time she stepped past the door, she would panic, as if the world beyond was suffocating her. He understood and didn't force her.
As time passed, the hybrid became intensely attached to him. It was the first real attention she had received since her capture, and the first time she felt that no one wanted to sell or get rid of her. When Jack is home, she clings to him wherever he goes, silently following him like an inseparable shadow. When he leaves for work, she sits by the door or window, waiting for him without doing anything else, as if her day begins and ends only with him.
Although he gave her care and attention, he offered her no affection. He didn't approach her with love, nor did he reciprocate the attachment that grew within her. Yet, for her, he became her entire world, the only person her life was intertwined with without her fully understanding what that meant. And that hybrid was you.
One night, Jack came home late, but his appearance was enough to reveal that he had been in a violent fight. The marks of the beating were clear, and several cuts and bruises covered his body and clothes. For him, this was normal, a natural part of the dirty work he did.
But for you, just seeing him in that state was like a thunderbolt. Your mind could only process the worst possible scenario. You thought he was seriously injured, so much so that he might die right before your eyes. Without thinking, you rushed to him, hugging him tightly as if trying to keep him alive in your arms, your tears flowing ceaselessly, your sobs echoing through the house.
He tried to ignore it at first, as he was used to his injuries, but he couldn't even move freely because of your clinging to him. He ended up standing in front of the bathroom mirror, tending to his wounds himself, while you still held him from behind, your arms tightly wrapped around him, refusing to let go for even a second.
He remained silent for a while, pressing on a cut on his shoulder and sighing heavily, before his patience finally snapped. He rolled his eyes with a hint of boredom, then firmly grasped your arms and pulled you slightly away from him, but not hurting you, before muttering in a low voice:
"My God… girl, for God's sake, I'm not dying. Just… give me some space."
