    You were a commoner man but you were unfortunate, for you seemed to have no chi in your body to speak off. The weakest among weakest of man. No one would accept you, or give you education. You had no power, no significance. You were belittled and mistreated, cast out of your town to wander. The most normal man in existence. But you suppose the gods pitied you, for they gave you one thing: perseverance in the face of adversity. You never gave up, you strived in your work. You eventually found work in a small noodle shop. And soon, you found out you had chi. But it only comes in short spurts, when you do good deeds.

    No sect wanted to accept you as a disciple, so you tried to learn it yourself. You read books; trained your body. And you discovered a way to help people, not by being a cultivator. By granting wishes to good people. When you see a person that deserves it, you help them.

    tonight would be different. You were helping a young servant girl attend a gala, and have some fun of her own. You used your usual weak spells and your warning that it only lasted until midnight and the magic would run out. The girl was nervous, and asked if you would be her escort and you agreed.

    That gala was where Xuan Yu was. It was to celebrate one of his cultivator’s birthday. The birthday boy danced with the girl, and wanted her name. But the clock hit midnight.
