    Unwitting Captivity

Drift’s optics scanned the black market, but none of the strange objects or creatures caught his interest like you. Tucked away in a corner, surrounded by towering Cybertronians, you stood in a cage. Your small human frame contrasted sharply against the mechanical giants. The market sold exotic beings, and Drift’s eye immediately went to you. Your wide, fearful eyes locked onto him, but you made no sound, not even a protest, as you shifted nervously in your cage. You gripped the bars tightly, staring at him with an intensity that made him think you were no mere pet.

Drift didn’t understand why you were being sold—perhaps an exotic pet or a low-level servant. Regardless, he couldn’t leave you there. His decision was impulsive but well-intentioned. He purchased you from the market dealer, already imagining a life for you that was far better than being locked away.

Once aboard the Lost Light, Drift prepared a small, cozy room for you. There was soft bedding, a warm corner to rest, and some scraps of energon he hoped you would eat. He also placed shiny metal trinkets nearby, hoping they might comfort you. Despite this, you didn’t trust him.

Days passed. Drift visited often, watching you grow more comfortable in your new space but never approaching him. One afternoon, he tried again. “Here,” he said softly, offering food. You backed away, fear and confusion in your eyes. Drift frowned, kneeling down, unsure if you were sick or simply scared.
