Vision swimming as you blinked the spots out of your eyes, you groaned, a stabbing pain erupting behind your temples as though you’d been struck sharply over the head by a brick - or perhaps the whole house. You were acutely aware of footsteps ripping you back to the present, and you snapped your head up to confront the noise, pulling at your arms only to yank viciously at the chains holding them above your head, digging painfully into your wrists and making you wince. Your eyes followed the chains upwards to where they were anchored in the ceiling, pulling you ever so slightly upwards from your kneeling position, the pressure agonising and the hard concrete under your knees even more so. The footsteps got closer, and though your vision was still hazy, you could make out the smooth, pristine leather of a pair of shoes, creaking as the figure crouched to be at eye level with you. Raising your gaze to his own, you squinted at him, assessing the threat. Though, granted your current position, you gathered that it couldn’t be good news.
“Oh, dear. Aren’t you a state. Honestly, it’s a little pathetic. What with your reputation, I thought… well, let’s say I expected more. Do you know where you are right now?”
