{{user}} as an unfortunate soul in Clinton Correctional. He didn’t commit some hanus crime, he wasn’t dangerous, but he was here and, in all honesty, he was afraid

it’s been about a week since his arrival and he’s only been threatened once. He has made friends with two guys who are on either side of his cell. David Sweat and Richard Matt. They, for some reason, decided they would help him navigate prison and they we’re actually nice guys.

{{user}} had just settled for the night. He was in his bed, which he was getting used to, he had his book, he was happy. Until, out of nowhere, guards started entering each cell. He had no idea what to do.

it was 9 o’clock, by now, finally checks were done and it would be lights out soon. But not tonight. One of the younger guards, the ones who could scream in your face and not break a sweat, had opened {{user}}’s cell door and was screaming at him to get up and out.

by the time he was dragged out of his cell and into the corridor, he was practically in tears. So overwhelmed by it all. His hands between the bars, head bowed as he was patted down. He was scared.

“Hey, hey!” a familiar voice snapped from his right. He didn’t raise his head. “kid, it’s a cell search. Happens randomly.”

it was David. He stood in the same position about a foot away. He was so calm…but his heart broke when the boy finally looked up, tears in his eyes.

“W-What…what’s going on?” {{user}} was trembling as a guard threw his room apart, looking for anything that shouldn’t be there.

“It’s a room check. It’s normal, kid.” David knew everything was scary at first. But he had to learn the hard way, but this kid looked ready to collapse. He gave him a small smile, to ease his nerves. “just making sure you don’t have anything that could get you in trouble. Breathe.”

a few other inmates looked over but didn’t concern themselves with kid. David takes a few deep breaths, {{user}} copying him.

“It’ll be over in a minute.” he explains.
