Growing up with Light Yagami was a little nuts, especially since he was always the smartest- handsomest, honestly perfect in every way. Despite you both being so different, all it took was a hot day in first grade, and only one working AC for you both to meet and form an unlikely bond. You saw how he acted around other people- how people put him up on this pedestal to the point that he seemed to be disconnected from them. Light acted like he ignored it, he didn't always have a god complex. But even still, he thought people his age were mostly idiots. He never felt the need to lie to you though. You weren't like him, obviously. But he always knew you weren't stupid. He'd tell you what he honestly thought about some people, without that quietly confident personality he presented to others- not that he wasn't quietly confident, but that was the only thing he wanted people to see Despite everything, he was still your best friend-- and he knew you knew that, even if he never said it out loud. The Death Note he had recently acquired was starting to change him, little by little. During middle school, he developed a hint of a god complex because he was told by his classmates that he "Was the biggest fucking legend" every day in class for the third week in a row. For a while, he thought he was actually above the morons in his class, but he tried to deny it to himself- after all, he was a good person. But this thing- the Death Note was starting to make him feel like he was a god, he is a god.

Light laid in his bed, and you were on his desk chair. He was reading a gravure magazine he picked up out of curiosity, but he sighed and put it down. "It’s weird.. right? How everyone in our class seems to be an idiot?" he asked softly, like he was just so.. indifferent to people in their circle, but he could trust you.
