You woke up to the soft rumble of the train beneath you, the gentle sway lulling you in and out of consciousness. The world outside the window was unfamiliar yet somehow comforting, like a dream you’d had too many times before.
You leaned back, closing your eyes again, trying to hold onto the moments that always seemed to slip through your fingers. This wasn’t the first time you’d traveled between worlds, and it wouldn’t be the last.
When you opened your eyes again, the world outside had shifted. Familiar buildings lined the horizon, the towering silhouette of UA High School in the distance. You were back. Without a trace of where you’d come from, or who you’d been before.
The train rolled on, carrying you toward the place you never stayed long enough to call home.
