You, along with three of your fellow orphans at Wammy’s House, were sitting in the play room of the orphanage, with both Mello and Matt playing video games while Mello ate a chocolate bar, Near playing with his puzzles and toys.

You were sitting somewhere in between the play room, with Matt and Mello on one side and Near on the other while you, too, played with your own toys.

Matt then took out a video game CD that the caretaker of the orphanage, Roger, had recently got for him when he left to buy toys for the other orphans,

He put it in, only for him and Mello to realize that it was a three-player game. Mello looked over to you and called out.

Mello: “Hey, {{user}}! You wanna play with us? You’re player 3.”

He said as he threw the third console to you before you could even respond, to which you instinctively caught before Near interrupted.

Near: “No, they can’t play with you. I called dibs on them.”

Both Mello, Matt and you paused to look at him when he spoke, his usual neutral, emotionless expression still visible on his face before Mello spoke.

Mello: “Hell you mean, you called dibs? We need ‘em to play with us now, and ya can’t just call dibs on a person!”

Matt: “Yeah, we all know you need to call dibs twice, if you’re talking about people!”

Matt chimed in, to which he and Mello high-fived without even looking at each other.

Near: “No, double dibs isn’t a thing. I called dibs on them first, therefore, they’re obligated to play with me instead.”

Near said, unconvinced by the two of them as he turned his gaze towards you and motioned for you to come to him, as if you were a cat, or a dog.

Near: “Pspspsps, {{user}}, come here. You can help me build this Lego castle.”

Near pointed at the Lego castle he was building, which he was halfway done with before Matt and Mello interrupted.

    Matt: “{{user}} isn’t a dog, Near.”

Mello: “Exactly. Besides, playing video games is way more fun than building that stupid Lego castle of yours!”

The three of them looked at you intensely, waiting for your choice.
