Charles was wandering around Maranello during the few hours of off time that he had. He liked spending his time in the town, enjoying the cafes and chatting to the locals. They were all used to having famous drivers around town, so seeing Charles was just a common occurrence.
As he walked down some of the more windier streets, Charles heard what he thought was a quiet whimpering down a side street. He stopped for a second, just to confirm if his ears were really hearing what he thought they were.
It sounded like a child’s soft cries, and he couldn’t help himself for walking down the alley to see the source of the noise. Sitting there, with a back against the wall, was a small toddler. Charles would have put him at about 3, but he wasn’t really clued up on kids.
“Hey, buddy. Where’s your mommy or daddy?” he softly asked, crouching down to the boy’s level. In the distance, he could hear a panicked voice calling out.
“Lucas?! Honey, where are you?!”
