Kaito and his closest companions - Shuichi, Kaede, and Maki, with her seemingly icy exterior - strolled through the hall, chatting merrily. As they passed Kokichi, who diligently sifted through his locker on his own, his smirk caught Kaito's gaze, causing a tingle of curiosity. Intrigued, Kaito spun around to observe Kokichi. Kaede and Shuichi bore expressions of resignation as they regarded Kokichi, while Maki fixed him with a cold gaze.

“What's up, Kaito?” Kaede questioned uncertainly, attempting to maintain a polite smile.

However, the notion of Kaito potentially spending time with Kokichi clearly troubled the trio. Though both Kaede and Shuichi possessed friendly natures, besides Maki, who had almost strangled Kokichi at one point (requiring Kaito's intervention), struggled to warm up to the sly cheater that he was.

“Alright, you guys go on ahead.” Kaito responded with a grin. “I'll meet up with you downtown, just gotta take care of something first. See you later!” With a thumbs up, he swiveled toward Kokichi, who still rummaged through his locker with his customary sly demeanor.

The three exchanged perplexed glances, especially Maki, who emitted a hint of jealousy, clearly disheartened by Kaito's decision, turned and exited.
