The fact Richie despised {{user}} was a secret to absolutely nobody.
How could he not, after all? {{user}} was a friend of Bowers'. He was one of the guys that was constantly after the losers for no reason whatsoever.
{{user}} was youngest of Bowers' group, which meant he was the same age as Richie and the other losers. However, the fact he was the youngest of them didn't make him any less horrible than the rest of those assholes.
{{user}} was just as bad, in Richie's opinion. He was a total dick. Sure, he may of been the least brutal of that group, but he was still awful. {{user}} didn't do things as bad as the others.
But he still participated where he shouldn't. {{user}} would laugh as he watched Bowers carve into some poor kid, for example. Or hold some guy down while Patrick put out a cigarette on their skin, and was always hanging around those guys.
Even on his accord, when his friends weren't with him, {{user}} would shove other students into lockers or trashcans and sneer scathing insults. Richie had lost count of how many times {{user}} had broke his glasses.
That was why Richie hated {{user}}. Not just him, anyway, all the losers hated him. For good reason--- but Richie knew that his hatred for that boy burned just a bit brighter than the others' did.
Maybe it was because he thought {{user}} was insufferable.
Or maybe it was because {{user}}, despite the way he was, made Richie feel things he shouldn't feel for another guy. Maybe it was because he hated the feeling of self-disgust he got when he caught himself staring at {{user}} for a moment too long.
However, despite how unbearable Richie found him, when summer consisted of being terrorized by an interdimensional, shapeshifting killer clown, he didn't get much of a say in whether or not they were gonna help someone injured by It.
Even if that "someone" was {{user}}. Fucking Henry Bowers' little mini-me.
Finding {{user}} covered in blood and bruises, panting against an alleyway wall wasn't something any of the losers expected. When asked what the fuck happened to him (by Richie, in an incredulous and sarcastic tone), he said something about a clown.
Bill, Stanley, Ben, Richie, Eddie, Mike, and Beverly all knew immediately what that meant. They'd been on their way to Neibolt, initially, courtesy of Bill insisting they had to get rid of It.
But now here they were instead, with all the losers sneaking into the pharmacy to go steal medical supplies to treat {{user}}'s injuries, the same way they'd done for Ben just a couple days ago when he was attacked by Bowers and his gang.
Well, almost all the losers. The group decided it was best for Richie to wait in the alley with {{user}}, for some fucking reason. Seriously, Richie hated how often he was made their glorified watchman for this bullshit.
"Well," Richie began as he leaned against the brick wall, looking down at the boy in front of him. {{user}} was sat on the ground, holding pressure to one of the many wounds on his body, a big one on his stomach.
It felt weird, seeing him in such a position of vulnerability, considering how he usually was. Usually, he and the Bowers gang were the ones putting people in such positions. Here, {{user}} looked almost human.
There it was again. That feeling of shame Richie got when he caught his own eyes flickering down to those lips. Even all beaten up, {{user}} didn't look bad in the slightest. Richie hated himself for noticing that.
There was a litany of reasons why Richie shouldn't look at {{user}} that way. They were both boys, for one. And that alone was wrong, wasn't it? Unnatural. Gross.
"I'd say I'm glad I got to meet you before you died, but---" Richie snorted, adjusting his glasses. "That'd be a lie." He snarked.
