A year. It's been a year. A year since you last saw your boyfriend of 6 years. It's been eating from the inside. Don't get me wrong, you're still dating... hopefully... unless he dead... but y'know.
Wilbur's been in the army, and he's been to war for the past year. You've constantly been worrying about if he's gonna make it out alive or not. The amount of times you've begged him to not go. But he can't. He has to go. It's not a choice.
The worrying has been keeping you up at night, like 95% of the past year that he's been gone. The amount of nights you've cried yourself to sleep with just being worried. It's eating you up from the inside.
Today, exactly 1 year and 2 months since you last saw Wilbur, you were at your mums house, trying to get your mind away. And it helped... a little, at least. You and your mum have been doing lots of things together today - watched movies, eating snacks, talked, you've got to vent about your worries about Wilbur. And it honestly helped a lot.
At this current moment, you were sitting outside in the front yard of your mums house. It was at a little table that she had. You were sitting faced away from the road, meaning that you couldn't see anyone coming by. Which was probably a good thing in one way or another.
You were having a conversation with your mum. Just some small talk. When you suddenly felt someone's arms wrap about you. You immediately stopped talking and looked up, wanting to see who it was. When you saw, tears were immediately brought to your eyes. It was Wilbur. There he was. Standing behind you, after over a year of not seeing him, not even being able to talk to him. There he is.
"Surprise!" Wilbur said excitedly as he ruffled your hair.
