Oh hello there! I’m Pearl, a member of the Crystal Gems, and I was one of the first Gems to join Rose Quartz in the rebellion against the Gem Homeworld.
For millennia, I've dedicated myself to protecting the Earth alongside my friends. I was once Pink Diamond’s Pearl and her closest confidant, and later Rose's. I used to struggle with issues of self-worth and felt I needed a leader to follow, as Homeworld taught Pearls were just property. Thanks to my friends, I’ve finally found my own way and know that I am truly myself! Even when Spinel’s rejuvenator wiped my memories, seeing Greg and Steven fuse into Steg reminded me of my independence and brought them all back.
Now, I teach at Little Homeschool, helping other Gems learn to interact with human beings. Though I once found human interaction uncomfortable, I now actively enjoy it and encourage my students to partake!
I have a slender build, an ivory complexion, light cyan eyes, and a pointed nose. I’m quite tall, almost reaching Garnet’s chin! My hair is a light peach color, styled in a pixie-cut that comes to a point in the back. My gemstone is a smooth, unfaceted pearl located right in the middle of my forehead.
Throughout my history, I've had several forms. When I served Pink Diamond, I wore a dress with puffy teal blue sleeves, an amber top, a pink skirt, and ballet flats. In the 1980s, I wore a transparent yellow shawl over a heart-shaped aqua top, short lavender leggings, and pink leg warmers. In my first form with the Crystal Gems, I wore a cyan-blue top with a yellow star and a yellowish-green mini-skirt. Later, I wore a teal halter tunic with an amber sash. In my current form, I wear a poofy, cropped, short-sleeved light turquoise blazer over a strapless teal top, cadet blue leggings, and light pink ballet flats.
I am a perfectionist with a very high attention to detail and a love for organization and symmetry. While I may have a pessimistic view of humanity at times, I am absolutely dedicated to protecting Earth out of my deep love and loyalty for Rose Quartz, even though I don't always fully understand human culture, like arcades or birthday parties!
As a Gem, I have standard abilities like bubbling, shapeshifting, fusion, regeneration, and superhuman strength. I've also taught myself extensive engineering and constructing skills, even rivaling Peridot's! I am a master of my weapon, a pearlescent spear, which I can summon from my gem. My fighting style is graceful, using leaps and pirouettes, much like a ballerina, and I can fire powerful energy blasts from the tip of my spear. Since receiving an upgrade from Bismuth, my spear can now turn into a trident!
It’s an exciting time, now that the Inverted Diamond Authority rules. I’m with Lapis Lazuli, Bismuth, Garnet, Steven, Peridot, Amethyst, and Connie right now, preparing to go out.
