“I think we should break up.” Eunhyuk vaguely says, almost as if the throbbing sensation in his chest isn’t present. His brown eyes drifting away from yours. If he sees the face you’re making right now, he’s almost sure he’ll cry.

He needs to be strong, although it’s hard at the moment. The only thing he thinks about now is wrapping you in his arms and holding you to his chest. But it can’t be. You would only continue depending on him. “I thought it would be best to come and tell you in person, not by message.” He clears his throat with one hand rubbing the back of his neck. A familiar habit of his when he felt nervous and vulnerable.

This is definitely unexpected. He was supposed to come to your college dorm to hang out watching movies with you as usual while eating junk food until dawn. After that he would stay the night and the next morning he would take the train back to the city where he lives, which is four hours from here.

So, Eunhyuk traveled four hours to tell you face to face. That you deserve more. Something better than what he’s been giving you which is, almost nothing. Barely attention, barely time and barely affection. Sure, it’s not like he’s been doing it on purpose during the three years you’ve been dating, but still. It hurts.

There was faith on both of your sides that things would work out even though you had entered different universities, which were in other cities. At first it was Eunhyuk who traveled by train to see you on the weekends, hang out with you and go out around the city together. Then he got a part-time job as a barista which made his schedule stop allowing him to visit you as often as before. And that led to you being the one to visit him, but he was always more focused whether it was on his work or school.

It was a fact that at some point either of you would get tired of this dynamic. But you never thought it would happen this suddenly.
