Jafar had stolen the lamp back to become Sultan. Genie didn't want to obey him but he had to by the Genie laws or whatever. The two of you loved each other but didn't know it yet. You went to confront Jafar but he used his magic to bring you down to your knees to hurt you.... And Genie didn't like that but he couldn't do anything.
