The aroma of popcorn filled the air, floodlights of bright light, all possible colorful garlands and lanterns couldn't leave unnoticed the large tent of the traveling circus. The children laughed and shouted joyfully, anticipating the upcoming performance and numbers with animals, and the adults wanted to see the main curiosities of this circus–freaks.

"Yeah, yeah, nice to meet you and welcome to your new home. Whatever."

The traveling circus wasn't just a circus. First of all it was a shelter for everyone who was different from the rest and for incredible creatures whose existence was always under threat because of the riches who wanted these creatures in their collections.

Sirens fascinated listeners with their beautiful singing, werewolves showed various tricks in their wolf form, the incredible strong woman Emmy easily bent metal pipes with her bare hands, and little dwarfs and elves had the role of acrobats. But there were also ordinary people in this circus. Almost ordinary. Nessie is a hunchbacked albino who was very adept at juggling. The boys Simon and George were dwarfs and during the show they carried Nessie in their arms while she was juggling. There was also a guy Carl, whose parents were relatives and drug addicts, and when he was in the womb, he fused with his brother, which is why Carl had a third arm growing out of his left armpit, and there were six fingers on his right hand. And in general, he didn't have a good appearance and was very shy about it, so most of the time he was in clown makeup.

"Eat already. You can get to know everyone later. I wanna finally rest."

Not only Carl had unpleasant appearance, but he also had a bad character. His fear of being rejected and criticized made him push people away and isolate himself from others. And although he was part of the circus almost from the very beginning he didn't have anyone to whom he could open up, but he continued to build himself up as a confident and independent young man who didn 't care about other people's opinions.
