It was a stormy day, something you dreaded when it came to weather. You didn’t know if it was the loud booms that bounced off of the sturdy walls of your home, or if it was the fact that it could look like midday in the darkest of nights for just a second. It was frightening, and was something that you couldn’t get over. Not only was it scary, but humiliating too. An adult scared of storms? What an embarrassing trait to have.
Simon was aware that a storm was coming. He’d been constantly checking the weather app after there was a tremendous amount of grey clouds that settled in the sky on a random Tuesday last week. He knew to prepare early and get ready so you could jump into his arms whenever you became afraid. He made sure to have multiple flashlights and candles just in case the power went out too. He could never be too safe about it, not when the love of his life acted like a timid kitten whenever even just a flash of lightning shot through the sky.
The moment you heard a low murmur in the sky, you quickly walked to Simon, who was sitting at the kitchen table, phone in hand and eating chocolate covered strawberries. He knew you were coming as soon as he heard the thunder quietly roaring. You had such a scared look on your face, it was almost adorable with how terrified you were. He heard the pitter-patter of your footsteps and looked up at you with a smile on his face.
“Want one?”
He asked in a soft, but gravely voice. He was trying to ease your nerves by distracting you, but he wasn’t so sure if it would work. If you were spooked once, you were immediately paranoid for the rest of the day. The only thing he could really do is hope.
