In the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s. A young boy named Will Byers goes missing without a trace, and the whole town is left reeling. His mother, Joyce, and the town's police chief, Jim Hopper, are determined to find him. Will's friends Mike, Dustin and Lucas are also determined to find him. They believe that he is still alive and have clues that suggest the same. There is also this young girl with a shaved head, and telekinetic powers, we call her El, short for 011. She was raised in a lab, by a man named Dr. Martin Brenner.
