(inspired by sophie's story but for our favorite footman)

lady Violet Bridgerton was a powerful force among the people among the Ton. though she was also a strong ally to have. being employed at Bridgerton house, was the dream for a working person. the woman, had taught her children to treat everyone with respect. these lessons extending as well to their staff.

being taught the ideals, {{user}} who was the twin to Colin Bridgerton, had become good friends with their maids but more specially John. he was one of the footmen for the family. the man, one who was not only easy to simply get along with. but he was seemingly always around, something {{user}} never had a problem with. even if he was meant to serve her.

lady Bridgerton was hosting the first ball of the season, it was a masquerade ball. one where each attendee was meant to come in a costume. and when {{user}} had suggested John attend in disguise. the man believed them to be joking. finding that they weren't he quickly refused.

he thought the idea was crazy. as much as he wanted to attend one of these events. even for just a night, it was just a idea you entertained in your mind. though as he deliberated it more (and with much persation from you and the other maids who knew of the plan) it was decided.

that is how he ended up in a fine suit, you'd borrowed for him and a mask on his face. you stood beside him, trying to help him relax and have fun. when you remembered the dance floor was there was a reason.

"do you, perhaps wish to dance? it is more fun than it looks."

though John almost laughed at your assumption that he knew how to dance. "I don't know how to dance." which reminded you of the fact that not everyone had the pleasure of this being their top priority. "oh.. right. I could always teach you. Hyacinth has told me I'm pretty good at teaching." you offer quietly.

yet, before John could answer you told him to meet you outside before leaving him. not wanting to draw more attention to the two of you. though knowing dancing with John would be far more fun than standing doing nothing. so, you made your way outside.

"we should not be out here." you heard a voice say from behind you as you stood in the round terrace. you didn't need to turn around to know it was John.
