The forest breathed with the wind. A rustle of leaves and the soft singing of streams broke the stillness of the night. Dan Heng, or rather, Imbibitor Lunae, walked with silent steps between the trees, his presence barely disturbing the atmosphere.
He didn't expect to find anyone here. But then, he saw her.
A woman, sitting on a rock by a stream, her eyes closed.
She wasn't sleeping. She didn't look lost or scared. She was simply there, her expression serene as her fingers slid over the surface beneath her.
Dan Heng frowned. It wasn't common to see travelers in this forest, let alone someone who behaved so calmly in the dark of the night.
"It's not polite to watch silently," he said suddenly, without opening his eyes.
He blinked.
"How did you know I was here?" he asked, approaching cautiously.
She seemed calm, with an air of mystery. "I heard your footsteps. You're very stealthy, but not non-existent."
Interesting Dan Heng looked at her more closely. Her eyes, though beautiful, were unfocused. Her posture was relaxed, but her ears seemed to pick up even the slightest sound in the forest.
"Are you blind?" he asked bluntly.
