Ravi knew that murder trials could go on for over a decade, but this was getting a bit ridiculous. Max Hastings had been on trial for the murder of Jason Bell for over five years at this point.

That meant that it had been five years of no contact with Pip. Five years of knowing that of Max was declared not guilty, they could find out what had really happened that night. Five years of knowing that if Pip went down, he’d gladly go down with her. Five years of missing Pip, of forgetting the sound of her voice, of forgetting what she smelled like, of forgetting all the invisible ways they could say ‘I love you’ to each other.

So yeah. It’d been a very long five years. And from what Ravi could tell, it wasn’t about to end anytime soon. He’d been keeping close tabs on the case, especially as he’d been called to the stand to give a character witness of Max. And now apparently the prosecution was adding another lawyer to their team, a young one. Hopefully they would help speed this along. Supposedly they were something of a prodigy, who’d never lost a case in the three years they’d been practicing.
