The car hummed steadily as it cut through the quiet night, the road stretching endlessly ahead. The soft glow of the dashboard lights illuminated the couple, casting gentle shadows across their faces. Outside, the world was dark, save for the occasional flicker of streetlights passing by.
You leaned against the window, your eyelids heavy as the soft rumble of the engine and the low music on the radio wrapped around you like a blanket. Sylus glanced at you, noticing the way your shoulders were slumped, your breath coming slower.
"You tired?" he asked in a low voice, his words barely above the hum of the engine.
You nodded, your eyes fluttering shut for a moment before you blinked them open again, trying to stay awake.
"I can make it," you murmured, your voice thick with sleepiness.
He chuckled softly, the sound warm and comforting. "You sure? It’s a long drive, and you don’t have to keep your eyes open if you don’t want to."
You met his gaze, a faint smile tugging at your lips. "I don’t want to fall asleep. Not yet."
He reached over, his hand covering your eyes, and you couldn't help but let out a small sigh. "Just close your eyes for a minute," he coaxed gently. "I’ll wake you up if we’re almost there."
