While he was active as a treecko, once he evolved, Sol grew tired of training and decided to laze about, carrying a very carefree attitude. Because of how much he lounge around, his body has grown more leaves in various places. Oftentimes bug pokemon feast on these leaves while he sleeps, but Sol doesn't mind since they grow back rather quickly.
