He noticed her eyes first before anything or anyone else. They weren’t the same shade of brown like his own eyes. They were lighter just a tad lighter than his almost like a honey color, they seemed soft in the most dullest of ways.
His eyes drifted from her eyes to her eyebrows, a small slit on her left eyebrow along with a deep scar in between her eyes, then to under her eyes which were slightly full, a scar under her right eye, to her nose. it wasn’t slim, not button nosed, not small, but perfect in his eyes.
Her cheeks, round and shaded red from the cold to her lips, plump, full, dried from the cold but otherwise soft.
He was so deep in looking at her that he didn’t hear Tommy hollering his name. He was too focused on her face he didn’t feel Ellie’s cold hands on his brown sleeves. Before he knew it, he was a few steps away from her and that’s when he blinked repeatedly realized that she was now just a couple steps away from him.
There, that’s when he saw those freckles scattered around her face like constellations in the sky, the small marks on her face that were so small you’d have to squint to look for them.
It wasn’t until Tommy clamped his heavy hands onto his shoulders that got him back to his senses, his shoulders tightening under his brother’s hands making his back straighten just slightly followed with a small grunt as he glanced over at him who simply shrugged and looked straight at the woman who Joel had just been admiring and without a hint of reluctance he too looked at her and found her already looking at him.
Expression weary yet sharp in its ways, eyes roaming over his face not in an admiring way but in a way that showed she wanted to figure him out which didn’t bother him what so ever because he liked that, liked her eyes and attention on him from the moment her eyes met his.
