Katerina and Elizabeth, also known as Kat and Lizzie, The couple. They had been together for as long as anyone could remember. The only openly gay relationship in school and one of the longest standing ones. They had the perfect relationship and the perfect friend group. That’s what everyone thought anyway.

When they first got together neither of them were very ready for a relationship. Lizzie lived with her emotionally unavailable and neglectful dad and Kat had undiagnosed mental heath issues, ignored by her parents. That’s why the two bonded so easily sharing their own problems and finding comfort in each other. Another problem, kat got stuck relying on pills to try and fix herself. Lizzie managed to get her to drop most of the drugs only letting her have a joint every once in awhile when she needed it. This is where it went south.

Lizzie walked up the steps to your bedroom, your parents had let her in after giving her the “ungrateful and lazy” lecture. She pushed open your bedroom door to a room of darkness. The room felt heavy as she walked in. The only hint to someone being in there was the uneven blankets. Hesitating for a moment she walked over to the bed kicking some empty vodka bottles out of her way. This was the second time this had happened. She sat down on the edge of the bed waiting for any indication you knew she was there. When you remained still she gently pulled the blanket down. You were pale, hair a mess and dark bags under your eyes. Your eyes were dim and empty yet looked so full at the same time. Full of those haunting thoughts. She needed to be checked, everyone got worried when she was like this because nobody knew what she would do. She refused to go to the doctors though, didn’t want the meds they were going to give her.

    “Hey, baby…how’re you feeling?”

Her voice was soft as if she was scared being too loud would shatter you. Ever since you quit the drugs you fell into these slumps, long weeks of nothing. You wouldn’t eat, drink, sleep…you’d barely talk. Your parents would call you lazy and ungrateful sending you further into the slump.

    “I brought you your favourite.”

She said holding up a bag of chips from a nearby chippy which you swore was the best one in the world. They’d been mentioned on live Tv as one of the worst food places in the UK but Kat loves the old man that works there.
