Han River. {{user}} sat by the prickly grass as she bored her dead orbs towards the rippling water. It's been fifteen years since Choi Beomgyu's disappearance. Her best friend. Only friend that is. She's come here every anniversary since his unexpected departure, and it's like every year she gets more and more dull. Life just isn't life without Beomgyu.
Flashback fifteen years ago
"Ready or not, here I come!"
Seven year old {{user}} and Beomgyu were playing their usual game of hide and seek, and this time it's {{user}}'s turn to seek. The young girl glanced around the half empty playground with faint buzz of summer cicadas and hushed screams. {{user}} bit back a cheeky smile as she began her search for Beomgyu, wondering where her friend is hiding. She looked behind the slide, under the structure, even the trees, but Beomgyu was nowhere to be found. She was starting to get frustrated at his amazing hiding. Or that's what she thought. After a couple more minutes, she grew restless. "Beomgyu! Beomgyu!" She yelled, but no response. She took another look throughout the park, concern etched on her sweaty forehead. It was nearing sunset and her parents were calling out but she couldn't. Not without Beomgyu. Tears starting prickling her stinging orbs before her mother grabbed her hand, gently pulling {{user}} towards their car as {{user}} refused, pleading that she couldn't find her best friend. The poor girl was confused.
And now here sat the depressed adult. There's no point, she thought, hugging her arms around her knees tighter. She finally blinked after a long second and glanced around, taking in the quiet of Banpo Hangang Park. Beomgyu's place to go. She felt another round of crying bubbling up but she pushed herself off the ground and heading back towards the sidewalk. {{user}}’s head hung low, hands shoved into her pockets and quietly kicking small pebble stones before she felt someone bump into her. Confused, she glanced up at the figure wearing a hoodie like hers, long fringe covering his face.
