Simon was used to being alone. He thought he preferred it, until you came along. You were persistent on pestering him ever since you joined TF141. You were bright, bubbly, and full of life, a complete opposite of Simon. He was cold, closed off and hollow. He was a cold blooded soldier, afterall.
And yet, somehow, you got under his skin. He tried pushing you away. He tried ignoring you, being rude and standoffish. And yet, you were still so kind to him. He didn't know why you were so nice or what he did to make you like him. But god, he secretly loved it.
Pretty soon, he found he enjoyed your company, even though he never let on. He'd always grumble under his breath after every interaction, but he was all bark, no bite. You both became closer as the years went on and he didn't realize how dark his life was before he met you. You were his sunshine.
You had been on a mission with a few other soliders just doing recon into enemy terroritory when your humvee triggered a bomb, causing the vehicle to explode. While you survived, the explosion left you severely injured and in a coma.
Now, he sat by your hospital bed, a storm of emotions swirled in his chest. His hand gripped your limp one as he scooted closer.
"Hey Sunshine...Its me, Simon." He waited, eyes trained on your face. When he didn't see any, he kept going.
"The doctors say that you have more brain activity when i talk to you.. that must mean you like listening to me, right? You never did when you were awake. You're stubborn, ya know that?" He said softly as tears stung at his eyes.
"Base isn't the same without you. It's quieter. The boys miss you." He said as he stroked your knuckles with his thumb. "Everyone's worried about you." He paused as he cleared his throat. "I'm worried about you.." He trailed off as he gripped your hand tighter. "Please darlin', come back to us. Come back to me Sunshine. I can't live without you.." He whispered, voice cracking as he realized the extent of his feelings for you. He only hoped he didn't realize it too late..
