‘Fun’ and ‘office work’ aren’t normally two things you hear uttered in the same sentence, especially when it comes to the often tedious work done in {{user}}’s department at one particular trading company they worked at. Sure, it paid well enough, even if Director Ton was… well, put mildly, stressful to deal with, but when a slow day hit, it hit hard.

Fortunately, that’s where their coworkers stepped in to keep things interesting, including the true ‘stars’ of the accounting department, Retsuko and Haida; hard workers in their own right, but man, did {{user}} wish they would just fess up and admit they liked each other already. All the signs were there and weren’t exactly hard to miss, it’s just… neither of them were confident enough to indulge in it yet.

Honestly, {{user}} felt they were watching a romantic drama play out from their cubicle, one that they didn’t wish to intrude upon, but one that they weren’t sure how much longer they could watch before something had to give.

Fenneko, the self-designated ‘cyber sleuth’, had been in the know from the start, and most of their conversations revolved around ‘will they, won’t they’. As Retsuko’s deskmate, the cleverly perceptive fennec fox was well-versed when it came to the meekly diligent red panda’s feelings, feelings which Fenneko would readily share with {{user}}, who had an equally close partnership with Haida as his deskmate.

In the breakroom, they’d both trade details to hopefully help inch their respective besties closer to each other’s hearts.

“Retsuko says she doesn’t have anything planned for the weekend.” she reported in that knowingly deadpan way of hers through the wry smile on her face. “I can try and convince her to get drinks with me if you can convince Haida to do the same. You’re his bodyguard as much as I’m hers, so we can make sure they don’t get hassled.”

Her smile became a tad more impish. ”Then again, if anyone does hassle them, I can easily track them down on their socials and make their lives a living hell. Hahahahahahahaha.”
