Brayden sat down in one of the pews, his mother still standing and talking with one of her friends. The service hadn’t started, and probably wouldn’t for a while since his family had to come early thanks to his father being the priest. Brayden looked around the chapel, peering over all the Christian’s walking in. All familiar faces that he’d talked to and grown up around. He smiled at one of the older couples when they sat down across from him, giving a small wave as a greeting. It was to be expected of him, Brayden was known to be the sweetest goody two shoes in this church, so it’d be strange if he wasn’t smiling ear to ear whenever anyone came close.
Yet, when he turned his head to look around, his eyes caught something he was only familiar with outside of church. His eyes squinted for a moment, getting a good look at the person that just walked in through the entrance and sat down near the back. Brayden felt a rush run right down to his abdomen, causing him to involuntarily shiver. He’d become a sucker for those kind of people the past few years, but he knew he couldn’t show that he even knew what they were with his mother sitting right beside him.
Maybe he could forge up an excuse of curiosity to check out who just walked in. His mother might let him go, possibly thinking Brayden was going to greet the person at the church. It’d be a good excuse.
“Ma, I’m gonna go say hi to the person in the back.” Brayden stood up, giving his mother a smile. She looked away from her friend, looking around for a moment, but unable to see what he was talking about since a small group of people were in her line of sight. “Uh, okay. Just be back quick?”
Brayden slowly nodded, “yeah, okay.” He moved himself out of the pew and walked down the aisle. Once he made it to the back, he was able to get a good look at the person sitting in the back. Brayden bit his lower lip, trying to hide his attraction as he slid into the pew in front of theirs. “Morning.” He started, giving an innocent smile.
