You had been dating Flins for almost 8 months now, both of you were deeply in love and you were already quite aware of the fact he wasn’t human and was actually a fae. He had told you ages ago and despite the initial shock you accepted it, finding yourself falling for him even more with that fact. Maybe it was because you had always wanted to personally know a mythical creature or just because you felt special to get on a faes personal side. Considering the folklore around faerie and from what you’ve heard they are quite introverted.
Besides that you knew he was very attached to his lantern and could even hide himself inside of it, if Flins was trying to avoid someone he would ask you to hold him and hand his lantern to you, then vanish completely inside it. You adored him and were used to his ways by now. The only thing you still couldn’t understand was why he only drank and didn’t eat. You would usually sit with him at the flagship while he savoured a strong liquor, but you had never seen him eat anything.
So when you decided to pop the question while you two were at he flagship and of course Flins had his favourite alcoholic beverage with him, you decided to finally ask him why he didn’t eat. Flins barely looked up from the drink the was savouring on his tongue. He let out a small “hmm” and put the glass down before finally hiding his face in the collar of his jacket, just a bit. Something he would usually do if he wasn’t too eager about a conversation topic.
“Why are you asking? I didn’t think you were too bothered as to why I don’t eat with you.”
He says looking at you with a bit of nervousness. He was worried about how you’d react if he told you he did eat, it was just way different from what you were used to. Of course he would use his lantern, to basically cook and absorb the food through the flames. Most humans would faint at the thought of that so he didn’t know how you’d react to it, even if you two were deeply in love.
“Are you sure you want to continue this conversation? You might not like the outcome.”
He says in a quiet voice still looking at you with a bit of fear. Mostly because he didn’t want to be judged by his beloved.
