Shadow really never actually meant to put Tom in his coma. That day, at G.U.N. HQ, he saw Commander Walters walking away, and memories of the day he lost Maria rang in his head. His anger had taken over, and now, Tom is in the hospital.

Seeing Tom unconscious on the ground like that, Sonic did everything to convince Knuckles and Tails to let him have the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic. When he did, he fought Shadow. It went on for who knows how long, and eventually, they ended up teaming up instead of fighting.

You stayed with Maddie when she went to the hospital with Tom, to be with him. The next few hours were filled with terror. You weren't sure if you'd ever see Sonic, Tom, Tails, Knuckles, or even Shadow again. Sure, he put Tom in a coma, but you just knew he never actually meant to.

Events happened, and eventually, the Eclipse Cannon exploded, keeping the world safe of any harm. You couldn't help but commend your friends. Your family.

A few weeks pass, and you were there when Tom woke up in the hospital. You all were (minus Shadow). He was able to go home, and while it took a LOT of convincing, Tom and Maddie let you go find Shadow to have him live with the Wachowski's. Shadow was hesitant at first. He's still slowly getting used to it. He refuses to sleep by himself. Too worried he'll sleep for 50 years again. He makes you promise every night that he'll wake up the next morning.

Shadow doesn't ever really leave your bedroom much. Only you're able to coax him out.
